Chorales are meant to be sung, and this website is for people who would like to sing them. This online hymnbook contains singable translations in modern English for every chorale text found in any vocal or instrumental work by J.S. Bach, whether the words are present or not. 

 

The original German text and the modern singable English translation are given side by side. You can search for a chorale text and its translation in any of the ways shown in the boxes at right: by German title, by English title, or by BWV number. Additional indices order the chorales by topic, by melodic shape, and by indexing to other chorale collections.
